Babul Supriyo Discusses Remixes and AI's Impact on Music
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 11 (NationPress) Renowned singer, actor, and politician Babul Supriyo discussed the essence of authentic singing in the era of AI during a special interview with IANS.
Sharing insights on his latest track, "Intaha Ho Gai Intezar Ki", a remix, he revealed that he and Vikram Mehra, the Managing Director of Saregama India Ltd, were conversing about the significant transformations in the music landscape due to AI, highlighting both the positive and negative aspects.
He cited the recent hit "Dhurandhar" as an example, explaining how the original voices of various singers have been creatively utilized through AI in the series.
Babul emphasized that remaking a song serves as a tribute to its legacy.
He stated, "When you incorporate AI in music or create a remix, you are honoring the original song. It’s a tribute to that piece. There’s an abundance of songs out there. The few that get remade are the ones that truly stand out—they are exceptional."
Previously, he expressed his thoughts on the evolving role of female singers in the industry, noting that the high octaves of male singers often force female counterparts to lower their vocal range.
Discussing the shifting dynamics in the music scene, Babul commented, "The current trend sees male singers performing in such elevated octaves that talented female singers have no choice but to adapt their voices downward, which can compromise their vocal quality. Today, playback singing has transformed significantly; in many cases, there’s no lip-syncing involved, it’s all background music."
