Key Takeaways
Patna, March 19 (NationPress) The Patna High Court has granted bail to Mokama MLA Anant Singh concerning the Dularchand Yadav murder case on Thursday. The decision was made by Justice R.P. Mishra after considering arguments from all involved parties.
With this judicial decision, Anant Singh is anticipated to be released from Beur Jail in Patna within a few days.
Previously, he had shown optimism about his upcoming release.
Singh had been incarcerated following his arrest for a murder case that dates back to October 2025, during the Bihar Assembly elections.
The victim, Dularchand Yadav, who was a supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party and a former leader of the RJD, was killed on October 30, 2025, in Basawanchak village under the jurisdiction of the Ghoswari police station while he was campaigning.
Investigations led by the police revealed that an SUV allegedly struck him, resulting in instant death. However, his family contended that he was first shot before being hit by a vehicle.
Anant Singh was identified as the primary suspect and was taken into custody on the night of November 1, 2025. The police also apprehended two of his associates in relation to this case.
He was subsequently brought before a court on November 2, 2025 and placed in judicial custody.
His bail requests had previously been turned down by the MP-MLA court.
After spending approximately four and a half months behind bars, the High Court has now provided him with relief.
Remarkably, despite his incarceration, Anant Singh participated in the Mokama Assembly elections and secured victory.
On March 16, he was escorted to the Assembly to cast his vote in the Rajya Sabha elections, where he reiterated his belief that he would soon be released.
In a notable political move, Anant Singh has declared that he will not be running in future elections, indicating that his eldest son will take over the representation of the Mokama constituency for his party, the JD(U).
This development occurs amidst significant political transitions in Bihar, following recent electoral results and leadership discussions involving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
