Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, March 31 (NationPress) The Patna High Court has granted anticipatory bail to Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh, the nephews of Anant Singh, in relation to the murder case of Dularchand Yadav.
This decision was made by Justice Prabhat Kumar Singh following a review of arguments from both the defense and the prosecution.
Advocate Naresh Dixit represented the defendants, while Additional Public Prosecutor Satyendra Singh represented the state.
After hearing both sides, the court granted anticipatory bail to the defendants, who had been evading law enforcement since the incident.
The case centers around the murder of Dularchand Yadav, a supporter of a candidate from the Jan Suraaj Party, during the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
The tragic event unfolded on October 30, 2025, in Basawanchak village, located within the Barh sub-division of Patna district.
A violent clash erupted between supporters of JD(U) candidate Anant Singh and those of Jan Suraaj Party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
During the conflict, Dularchand Yadav lost his life.
The two accused, Dharmveer Singh and Karmveer Singh, are alleged to have forcibly removed Dularchand Yadav from his vehicle during the turmoil.
The victim's family claims that he was intentionally run over and shot by the accused and their accomplices.
Despite the allegations, the post-mortem report indicated that the cause of death was not due to a gunshot but rather attributed to cardio-respiratory failure, with injuries consistent with a collision caused by a heavy vehicle.
In connection with this case, Anant Singh was previously arrested and detained at Beur Central Jail in Patna.
His bail application was initially denied by the MP-MLA court, but the Patna High Court subsequently granted him bail on March 19, 2026, leading to his release on March 23, 2026.
With the anticipatory bail granted to the two accused, it is anticipated that further investigations and legal actions will proceed in this case.
