"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Mizoram cricketer K. Lalremruata. He represented Mizoram with pride in both the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The unfortunate incident occurred during a Khaled Memorial 2nd Division Screening Tournament match between Venghnuai Raiders CC and Chawnpui ILMOV CC. Lalremruata, who was actively playing for Venghnuai Raiders CC, suddenly collapsed on the field. Immediate assistance was provided, and he was rushed for medical care, but sadly, the doctors could not save him.
According to a statement from the Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM), Lalremruata suffered a stroke while participating in the second division tournament. CAM conveyed its condolences to his family, stating that his passing is a profound loss for Mizoram cricket.
Lalremruata had the honor of representing Mizoram in the Ranji Trophy on two occasions and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy seven times. Additionally, he was active in various local clubs and served on the Senior Tournament Committee.
In light of Lalremruata's death, Assam Cricket announced the cancellation of all matches scheduled for Thursday, indicating that these would be rescheduled. This affected games in the 2nd Division Screening Tournament at SCG, Sihhmui, the 3rd Division Screening Tournament semi-finals at Lawipu Playground, and the Samagra Inter-School Cricket Tournament for both boys and girls at the PUC Ground and MAP Ground in Mualpui.
Lalremruata, who played as a wicketkeeper, made his First Class debut against Meghalaya in 2018 and played his final match in 2022 against Nagaland.
