Kolkata, Dec 11 (NationPress) The West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) revealed a plan to conduct a Constitution recital in response to the recent Bhagavad Gita recital that took place in Kolkata.
During a press conference at Bidhan Bhavan, West Bengal Congress President Subhankar Sarkar shared the details of the initiative.
Titled 'Recitation of the Constitution by a Thousand Voices', this event is scheduled for December 20 on Rani Rashmoni Road in Kolkata.
Sarkar stated, “The recitation of the Constitution by a thousand voices' program is now officially launched. It will commence with the singing of Vande Mataram, emphasizing our commitment to pluralism. The politics of division concerning language, food, clothing, and religion has escalated dangerously across the nation. The Constitution, crafted by B.R. Ambedkar, is being disregarded with the aid of state power.”
According to the Congress leader, this event is a protest against religious fanaticism.
He accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and other Hindutva groups of fostering Manuvadi ideology and promoting a narrow-minded political agenda.
Sarkar emphasized, “We strongly oppose the imposition of divisive politics that compares Chandi Path with Gita recitation and Jagannath Temple with Ram Temple.”
He also announced plans for a protest encircling Lok Bhavan from December 22 to 24, advocating for the implementation of the 100-day work scheme in West Bengal.
This movement aims to challenge the suspension of new job card allocations and the withholding of funds for the state due to political motivations.
On December 7, the 'Panch Lakkho Konthe Gita Path' (Gita chanting by five lakh voices) event was conducted at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, organized by the Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad, a collective of monks and spiritual leaders from various Hindu religious institutions.
Thousands of devotees participated in the Gita recital, with notable figures like Swami Pradiptananda Maharaj and BJP leaders including Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, and others in attendance.
