Bengaluru, June 23 (NationPress) An alarming event involving the assault and harassment of a homemaker in plain sight has emerged from the Bannerghatta police jurisdiction, located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, according to officials on Monday.
The police reported that this incident occurred on Sunday around 5 p.m. in Renuka Yellamma Layout, near Anekal.
An FIR has been filed, and efforts are underway to locate the offenders.
The victim has provided mobile video footage of the incident to the authorities as proof.
In a statement to the media on Monday, she described how she was on her way to a nearby store to purchase groceries when a group of five to six young men began to verbally abuse her.
"They seemed to be under the influence of alcohol. They encircled me and began to misbehave. They struck me hard and dragged me across the street," she recounted.
"I tried to flee, but they wouldn’t allow it. I attempted to defend myself by kicking them. Initially, bystanders and neighbors did not intervene. It was only when the gang escalated their attack that some neighbors stepped in to assist me, but they were also assaulted by the group," she added.
"I managed to escape to my home and locked the door. The gang pursued me, leaped over the gate, and tried to break in. They remained outside, continuing their verbal assaults," she stated.
"I am unfamiliar with them. I had just relocated to the area with my children. Neighbors informed me that the attackers are from the locality. Later, one of the accused's parents confronted us at our home, verbally assaulting me and those who tried to help. I feel unsafe and threatened," she expressed.
"I visited the police station on Sunday night. The officers accepted my complaint but asked me to return the following day. The FIR was only registered later in the afternoon," she noted.
She called for justice, stating, "No other woman should endure what I experienced. Society must unite to protect women." The police have initiated a deeper investigation into the matter.
