Bengaluru, March 6 (NationPress) A Fast Track Special Court in Bengaluru has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually exploiting a minor girl and causing her pregnancy. The court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the offender.
Judge N. Narasamma instructed the District Legal Services Authority to allocate Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the victim.
The crime occurred on May 10, 2024, at the Cottonpet police station area in Bengaluru. The accused lured the victim to his residence when her family was absent, committing the heinous act. Following the assault, he threatened the girl and coerced her into coming to his home multiple times for further exploitation.
As a result of the abuse, the girl became pregnant. Her father learned of the incident when she was two months along and subsequently filed a police report against the perpetrator.
The authorities charged the accused under Section 376 (3) and Sections 3, 4(2), 7, 8 of the POCSO Act and conducted a thorough investigation. The 18-year-old suspect was arrested on May 13, 2024. A charge sheet was presented to the court detailing the accusations under Section 376(3) of the IPC and Section 6 of the POCSO Act.
The Fifth FTFC court oversaw the investigation, with Judge N. Narasamma delivering the verdict.
In a separate case, on September 26, 2024, the court sentenced a man to death for the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl. This individual had enticed the child with chocolates on September 21, 2017, before committing the crime in nearby sugarcane fields in the Belagavi district.
Despite knowing the victim was only three years old, he used sweets to lure her, then murdered her in a gruesome manner, covering her mouth, nose, and eyes with mud before burying her from head to abdomen and fleeing the scene.
