Bengaluru, April 9 (NationPress) In a troubling case from Yadgir district, a minor girl has initiated legal action under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a police Constable, accusing him of two years of sexual exploitation.

The allegations arose near the Sydapura police station, located in Gurumathkal taluk, where the victim reported the matter at the Yadgir Women’s Police Station.

According to law enforcement sources, the accused Constable, who is stationed at Sydapura, first approached the girl when she was just 16 years old, professing his love for her and subsequently engaging in sexual exploitation for a duration of two years. He had assured her of marriage, leading her to maintain the relationship.

In her formal complaint, the victim revealed that when she became pregnant, the Constable provided her with abortive pills. Upon her turning 18 in December 2024, he married her at the Sub-Registrar’s office.

However, the family of the Constable rejected the victim as their daughter-in-law, leading him to disown her and deny any relationship.

The victim, along with her family, has approached the Yadgir Women’s Police Station seeking justice and has filed a case under POCSO against the Constable.

In a similar incident in 2021, Karnataka Police arrested another Constable for allegedly raping a minor under the pretense of marriage in Mangaluru district. The accused was taken into custody and dismissed from service.

The Kadaba Police had charged him under the POCSO Act, 2012 for exploiting his official capacity, raping a minor, and committing criminal intimidation.

Additionally, a Sub-Inspector (SI) was recently implicated for torturing his wife over dowry and exploiting female complainants who sought justice at the police station in Chikkamagaluru district, a case that surfaced in January 2025.

The complainant alleged that her husband targeted women visiting him for complaints and passport verification, using tactics to befriend them, luring them, or coercing them into offering sexual favors in exchange for assistance.
