How does Bharat 2025 in Tokyo reflect India-Japan cultural ties?

Tokyo, July 21 (NationPress) Union Minister of Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed admiration for the splendid cultural event “India i.e. Bharat 2025: Celebrating Amritkaal” that took place in Tokyo, deeming it a potent illustration of the strengthening ties between the peoples of India and Japan.

He characterized the occasion as a remarkable fusion of civilizational principles and cultural collaboration, emphasizing the blossoming friendship and mutual admiration shared by the two nations.

Minister Shekhawat, along with the Mayor of Edogawa city in Tokyo, Takeshi Saito, and the Indian Ambassador to Japan, Sibi George, along with his wife Joice Sibi, officially inaugurated the festival known as Bharat 2025, featuring 12 hours of continuous performances organized by the Embassy of India and the Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Tokyo.

In his virtual address, Shekhawat highlighted that the event would reflect the rich cultural heritage and diversity of India, aligning with the vision set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which includes the cultural philosophy of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi.”

“This inaugural program outside India is truly unprecedented, as it showcases the unity of Japanese and Indian spirits. Japanese artists who have dedicated their lives to mastering Indian classical dance, music, and martial arts performed alongside Indian artists in Japan to create a magnificent symphony of our shared cultural narrative. This embodies the essence of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam': the world is one family,” he declared.

“The cultural heritage of India is a vibrant and ancient tapestry interwoven with various traditions, religions, languages, and art forms. It includes tangible elements such as historical sites and architectural wonders, as well as intangible aspects like music, dance, festivals, and philosophical teachings. This profound heritage, spanning thousands of years, continues to influence our nation and captivate global audiences,” the Minister remarked.

Shekhawat further noted that “India and Japan have a shared civilizational history that began with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan.”

He emphasized that the robust relations between the two countries could be further enhanced through increased exchanges among their citizens.

“This event is a testament to the growing connections between the people of India and Japan, showcasing the relentless efforts of the Indian Embassy in Japan to nurture these ties,” remarked the Minister.

In addition, a mesmerizing Kathak performance by the Masako Satou group opened the event, adding elegance and rhythm with its captivating combination of grace, footwork, and expression.

“Artist Erina Kasai delivered an exquisite Bharatanatyam performance during the Bharat 2025 event – a beautiful expression of devotion through classical dance,” the Embassy of India in Japan shared on X.
