Patna, Sep 18 (NationPress) On Thursday, Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar revealed a plan to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 to each unemployed graduate, a strategic move aimed at engaging young and first-time voters as the Assembly elections approach.

In a message shared on X, CM Kumar reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering the youth, highlighting that job creation and employment have been a significant focus since 2005.

He mentioned that the state aims to create government jobs and employment opportunities for one crore young individuals over the next five years, with extensive prospects in both the public and private sectors.

Under the Chief Minister’s Self-Help Allowance Scheme, which is part of the state’s flagship 7 Nischay program, the benefits will now be available to unemployed graduates.

Previously, eligibility was limited to those who had completed intermediate education.

Graduates between 20-25 years who are neither enrolled in studies nor employed will qualify for a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for a maximum of two years.

Kumar expressed optimism that this support would enable young individuals to engage in skill training and prepare for competitive exams.

“This progressive initiative by the state government aims to maximize employment opportunities for Bihar’s youth. Educated young people here will become self-sufficient, skilled, and employable, thus significantly contributing to the progress of both the state and the nation,” the Chief Minister stated.

Just a day earlier, Nitish Kumar disbursed Rs 5,000 each to 16.04 lakh construction workers as direct financial aid across the state, a gesture viewed as a strategic move ahead of the upcoming elections.

This financial support was provided in conjunction with Vishwakarma Puja and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Under the Annual Clothing Assistance Scheme, the Bihar government has transferred Rs 802.46 crore to the bank accounts of construction workers. Nitish Kumar, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, also inaugurated a Pratigya web portal for contractual workers in Patna.
