Patna, Oct 10 (NationPress) The Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially announced the commencement of the nomination process for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. This phase involves 121 Assembly constituencies, with voting scheduled for the initial round.
The notification, released by the Bihar Governor in accordance with Section 15(2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, outlines comprehensive procedures for the submission of nominations, their review, and the polling schedule for the respective constituencies.
Candidates have until October 17 (Friday) to submit their nomination papers. Scrutiny will occur the following day, and candidates wishing to withdraw their nominations must do so by October 20.
To maintain order, the poll panel has issued stringent security measures at nomination centers. Gatherings of supporters will be restricted outside these venues, and candidates may only be accompanied by a maximum of five individuals, including themselves. The entire nomination process will be recorded for transparency.
The ECI has mobilized approximately 850,000 officials statewide to facilitate the elections efficiently. This workforce includes 453,000 polling personnel, 250,000 police personnel, more than 28,000 counting personnel, and 18,000 micro-observers.
The first round of polling is set for November 6 and will cover districts across both North and South Bihar, including Patna, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Samastipur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Buxar, and Bhojpur.
Voting will occur in these constituencies from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in two phases, with the second phase of polling on November 11 and vote counting on November 14.
