New Delhi, Nov 14 (NationPress) As the counting for the Bihar elections progresses, the Congress party is on track for a significant loss, currently leading on only four seats. Party officials stated on Friday that this outcome is not a triumph for the NDA, but rather a victory for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Congress leader Udit Raj expressed to IANS, "This is not about the NDA's victory; it’s about SIR and the Election Commission. We believe votes have been manipulated. Despite raising our concerns until the end, the Election Commission failed to provide written responses. Given this situation, the results were predictable."
Congress MP Tariq Anwar commented, "We will review all factors influencing our performance. A thorough analysis will help us identify shortcomings and understand our poor showing in the elections. The counting is still ongoing, and results may shift as we progress through the rounds."
Congress MP Manoj Kumar stated, "We must acknowledge the people's decision. If the electorate has opted for another NDA government, we respect that choice. While we campaigned vigorously, we also received affection from the people of Bihar, regardless of their caste and creed. I thank the people of Bihar for their support once again."
Another Congress leader, Rashid Alvi, had previously predicted the outcome, stating, "I had warned earlier that the NDA would retain power. When the BJP, JD(U), bureaucracy, RSS, and financial power unite, this is the outcome."
In a related development, the BJP intensified its critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as the NDA seemed poised for a substantial win in the Bihar Assembly elections.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya shared a graphic highlighting Congress's electoral failures from 2004 to 2025 under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, remarking, "Another election, another defeat! If consistency in losses were an award category, he would win every time. It’s remarkable how he consistently encounters setbacks."
The ruling NDA appears to be on course for a landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, with trends indicating the alliance surpassing the 200-seat threshold as of 1:30 p.m.
Early trends from the Election Commission at 1:55 p.m. show the BJP leading in 91 seats, followed by JD(U) with 79 seats.
Alliance partners, LJP(RV), are leading in 22 seats, while Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and HAMS have four seats each. The Mahagathbandhan currently stands at 36 seats.
The counting for all 243 Assembly seats began at 8 a.m., starting with postal ballot scrutiny, followed by the counting of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes from 8:30 a.m., all under strict multi-tier security measures across the state.
Candidates from both alliances expressed confidence in their prospects, with NDA leaders asserting that the electorate endorsed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's promises and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s efforts towards the state's progress.
The Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD, claimed that Bihar voted for change and expressed hope that Tejashwi Yadav would lead the next government.
More than 70 crore voters participated in the election, casting their votes to determine the fate of both the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. The polling occurred over two phases, on November 6 and 11.
