Bhopal, Nov 14 (NationPress) In response to the recent Bihar Assembly election results, prominent leaders from the Madhya Pradesh Congress, including state unit chief Jitu Patwari and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh, expressed their disbelief over the NDA's overwhelming success.

They echoed the concerns raised by the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to Pachmarhi on November 8-9, just prior to the final voting phase.

Rahul Gandhi had asserted that the Bihar results would face manipulation, akin to what he claimed transpired in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and other states, criticizing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls as “an effort to obscure irregularities within the electoral framework.”

Congress leaders argued that the Bihar results corroborate these apprehensions, noting that the SIR process was conducted several weeks before the election schedule was revealed.

“The Bihar outcome is a direct result of the SIR process, just as Rahul Gandhi cautioned. The Election Commission's credibility is under significant scrutiny, a point Congress has consistently emphasized,” stated Patwari.

Supporting these claims, Digvijaya Singh alleged that votes were “illegally taken” under the pretense of the SIR.

“My fears have been realized -- 6.2 million votes were erased, 2 million were added, and 500,000 votes were cast without completing the SIR form. Most deletions impacted marginalized groups, including the poor, Dalits, and minorities. There are also persistent doubts about the EVMs,” he remarked.

The former Chief Minister encouraged the party to enhance its grassroots structure.

“Congress should focus on booth-level engagement. Modern elections are won through direct voter interaction, not through rallies and large gatherings,” Singh concluded.

Point of View

The allegations raised by Congress leaders regarding the Bihar election results underscore the ongoing tensions in Indian politics. It is crucial to ensure transparency and maintain the integrity of the electoral process, as these concerns resonate with voters across the nation.
