Patna, April 22 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a yellow alert for 31 districts as soaring temperatures persist across Bihar. Over the last two days, daytime temperatures have surged by up to 10 degrees Celsius, with maximum readings exceeding 42 degrees Celsius in various regions.

The highest temperature was recorded in Dehri at 42.4 degrees Celsius, followed closely by Gaya at 41.8 degrees Celsius and Aurangabad at 41.7 degrees Celsius. Other districts faced similarly blistering temperatures, including Gopalganj at 40.2 degrees Celsius, Bhojpur at 40.0 degrees Celsius, Buxar at 40.9 degrees Celsius, and Sasaram at 40.8 degrees Celsius.

The coolest minimum temperature in the state was noted at 23.6 degrees Celsius in Chhapra, suggesting warmer nights that offer minimal respite from the heat.

The Meteorological Centre in Patna forecasts a continued increase in temperatures this week, particularly from April 22-24.

Areas such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, and Saran are expected to experience rising temperatures. Additionally, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, Samastipur, along with Patna, Arwal, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Kaimur, Nalanda, Nawada, and Gaya are likely to be most affected.

Forecasted temperatures are expected to range between 40 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius, while humidity levels will exacerbate discomfort.

The temperature rise is linked to hot winds sweeping through the area, alongside a lack of cloud cover.

A Western Disturbance is projected to approach the Western Himalayan region starting April 24, which may lead to alterations in the weather patterns across Bihar.

As the heatwave worsens, authorities recommend avoiding outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.

Officials from the Meteorological Department also urge the public to maintain hydration and opt for light, breathable clothing. Educational institutions might consider adjusting their schedules to safeguard students. Special attention should be given to the elderly, infants, and individuals with health concerns.
