It was discovered that Kamlesh Kumar was part of a group of five individuals involved in a brazen daylight heist at a Bank of Maharashtra branch in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
The robbery resulted in the loss of cash and gold totaling around Rs 15 crore, with approximately Rs 20 lakh in cash and significant amounts of gold jewelry taken.
This audacious crime, executed in under 15 minutes, involved the assault of the bank manager and the firing of shots to instill panic among the customers and staff.
The assailants fled the scene on motorcycles, having held everyone at gunpoint.
The successful arrest was made possible due to the keen observations of constables Umakant and Md. Nazim, who noted suspicious activity during their routine patrols and promptly informed RPF Inspector Ramvilas Ram.
A follow-up search led to the recovery of the stolen valuables.
The accused, hailing from Nalanda district in Bihar, is currently undergoing interrogation by police teams, including officials from Madhya Pradesh who have traveled to Rohtas for further inquiries.
ASP Alok Kumar Singh described the arrest as a major triumph and announced that a recommendation would be made to reward the RPF team for their prompt and effective response.
