New Delhi, July 5 (NationPress) BJP national spokesperson RP Singh on Saturday launched a fierce critique against Congress and other opposition parties for their resistance to the Election Commission’s mandate for a special intensive revision of the electoral rolls in Bihar, scheduled to take place over the next month.
“This is a standard procedure conducted by the election commission whenever elections are approaching. The same process is now being implemented in Bihar, and subsequently, it will also apply to the assembly elections in West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh,” Singh informed IANS.
In response to Pappu Yadav's call for a Bihar bandh on July 9, 2025, in protest of this initiative, Singh stated that the Election Commission is addressing any potential errors; however, the opposition is generating undue turmoil.
“The opposition is merely performing for political gain. They may attempt to block roads and incite protests, but the citizens of Bihar are astute and will not be deceived. Those opposing this revision are actually supporting illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas, who have been exploited as a vote bank,” Singh asserted.
On the same day, the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) submitted a petition to the Supreme Court challenging the Election Commission of India’s decision to execute a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in the state heading toward polls.
The petition claims that the ECI’s decision is arbitrary and may disenfranchise millions of voters.
While the poll panel has justified its actions, the opposition continues to criticize it, alleging that the commission is acting at the BJP's behest.
The BJP has defended the poll panel’s directive, but this issue has escalated into a significant political controversy and has now reached the Supreme Court.
With ADR's petition now filed, it appears that this matter will intensify in the days ahead.
