Bihar Government Enforces Strict Measures to Combat LPG Black Marketing

Patna, March 12 (NationPress) The Bihar administration has mandated all districts to enforce rigorous oversight and monitoring to thwart the black marketing and unauthorized storage of domestic LPG cylinders.
On Thursday, Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh convened a crucial review meeting with district officials and Superintendents of Police statewide to assess the situation in light of concerns regarding the existing global energy climate.
Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Inspectors General attended the gathering as well.
A number of senior officials were present, including Vinay Kumar, Director General of Police; Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary (Home); Anil Kumar, Director of the Information and Public Relations Department; Upendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the Food and Consumer Protection Department; and representatives from leading petroleum companies.
During the meeting, the Development Commissioner directed all district administrations and police officials to take stringent action to prevent the black marketing, illegal storage, and unauthorized sale of domestic LPG cylinders.
Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Additional Chief Secretary Home, instructed officials to initiate special monitoring operations across all districts and ensure regular inspections of LPG agencies, warehouses, and distribution networks.
He cautioned that swift legal action should be taken against individuals or organizations involved in irregularities, ensuring that domestic LPG cylinders are utilized solely for residential purposes.
Director General of Police Vinay Kumar urged Superintendents of Police statewide to vigilantly monitor social media and act swiftly against those spreading misinformation or engaging in black market activities.
The review meeting also mandated that control rooms be established in every district to address public complaints regarding LPG supply.
District administrations and police forces have been tasked with close coordination to guarantee that consumers experience no inconvenience.
Officials were urged to promptly resolve complaints regarding domestic gas cylinder distribution to maintain a seamless supply.
Anoop Kumar Samantrai, Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation and State Head for Bihar and Jharkhand, confirmed that there are ample LPG cylinders available in the state and that the supply chain remains stable.
He advised consumers to remain calm and refrain from unnecessary stockpiling of cylinders.
Additionally, he indicated that OTP verification for deliveries has been temporarily halted due to a technical glitch in Indian Oil’s system.
Representatives from petroleum corporations reassured that there is no deficit of petrol, diesel, or PNG gas supply in the state.
Development Commissioner Mihir Kumar Singh reiterated that the state government is fully committed to protecting consumer interests and will continue implementing necessary measures to ensure smooth supply and equitable distribution of LPG cylinders throughout Bihar.
