Did Goons Behave Like Rahul Gandhi? Ravneet Singh Bittu Responds After Confrontation
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 4 (NationPress) Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu expressed his strong disapproval of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, after being labeled a 'traitor' during a heated exchange near Parliament. Bittu remarked that even 'goons' would not exhibit the behavior displayed by the Congress leader.
During the confrontation, Rahul Gandhi launched a pointed verbal assault, referring to Bittu as a 'traitor', to which the former Congress leader responded immediately and forcefully.
As Bittu proceeded past the suspended MPs, Gandhi could be heard stating, 'Here is a traitor walking right by. Look at the face.' He reached out to Bittu, saying, 'Hello, brother, my traitor friend. Don't worry, you will come back (to the Congress).'
Speaking exclusively to IANS, Bittu recounted, 'I was walking from the main gate of Parliament. From a distance, I heard Rahul Gandhi saying something. Everything is clear, but I can't use that word in front of you.'
He continued, 'The entire incident is on record, and I can't comment further. He told me to 'come back to us.' There seems to be a misunderstanding; he thinks he is still a prince of somewhere. I told him, 'Rahul ji, you are an enemy of the nation. Your words against our soldiers in Parliament are unacceptable.'
Bittu accused Gandhi of making personal remarks and failing to uphold the expected decorum of a parliamentarian.
'While other MPs were exiting, your comments were personal. It’s fine when someone is with you, but not when they are not,' he stated.
He also referenced historical incidents involving the Congress, asserting, 'They have caused the deaths of numerous Sikhs, whether at the hands of police or terrorists. They have always been the 'enemy.''
'A Sardar will never extend a hand to the scion of the Gandhi family, the killer of Sikhs. My grandfather sacrificed his life; their father was also martyred. If workers chanted slogans for both, it created issues for them,' he claimed.
Bittu reflected on political changes in Punjab, stating, 'When P.V. Narasimha Rao became Prime Minister, the Gandhi era came to an end. Things took a different turn.'
'When my grandfather became CM of Punjab, he restored peace, halting the violence between Sikhs and Hindus. This was problematic for them,' he added.
Alleging that Rahul Gandhi attempted physical confrontation, Bittu remarked, 'Street goons would not behave as Rahul Gandhi did. When I refused to shake hands, he approached me aggressively. Thankfully, Venugopal Ji intervened. Had he not, I would have had to defend myself.'
He questioned Gandhi’s conduct, stating, 'As a parliamentarian, can he justify his actions? How can he face the public after using such words, regardless of party affiliation?'
Bittu emphasized his current political affiliation, saying, 'I am now with a party that respects me. You have a misconception. I am affiliated with a party where BJP, PM Modi, and Amit Shah have honored me greatly.'
'In politics, abusive language is inappropriate. If this incident had occurred elsewhere, it might not have been believed. But since it happened in Parliament, people are aware of it.'
