Davangere, April 21 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP asserted on Monday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is trying to plant the seeds of division among various communities in light of the caste census.
“Siddaramaiah shows a lack of integrity concerning the caste census. The BJP has repeatedly stated that the Chief Minister is politicizing this matter and working to sow discord among communities. Our firm belief is that justice should be extended to all communities, including backward, oppressed, and marginalized groups,” remarked BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra during the third phase of the ‘Janakrosh Yatra,’ which commenced on Monday.
The yatra is set to traverse through Davangere and Haveri districts before advancing to Gadag and Koppal districts. This initiative was launched by the state BJP to criticize the Karnataka government regarding rising rice prices and the purported Muslim quota.
The state BJP leader also accused Siddaramaiah of being “dishonest” regarding the caste census.
He further claimed that the Chief Minister tends to bring up the caste census issue whenever he feels threatened in his role.
Regarding the ‘Janakrosh Yatra,’ Vijayendra noted that excitement is “growing” in every district for the BJP event and that “public discontent” towards the state government is also on the rise.
“After I mentioned that the Chief Minister and his ministers are confined to Bengaluru, I sensed that the Chief Minister has become more vigilant. Since then, his visits to Belagavi and other districts have been arranged. It’s evident that the public's anger is reaching the state government,” he expressed.
On the incident involving students who were reportedly asked to remove their ‘Janivara’ (sacred thread) during an exam, Vijayendra stated that Brahmin students faced humiliation and that this matter has ignited extensive discussions both within the state and nationwide.
He urged the Chief Minister to take this matter seriously and not dismiss the incident.
“The entire community is disturbed. The Chief Minister should not trivialize this matter and must provide suitable directions. Various communities wear the ‘Janivara’ or sacred thread. The Chief Minister must ensure that his directives do not offend any community’s sentiments,” he concluded.
