Key Takeaways
Patna, Oct 14 (NationPress) In a striking announcement, the BJP unveiled its inaugural list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections on Tuesday. The party's State President Dilip Jaiswal asserted that despite the Opposition's attempts to circulate rumors, the NDA remains steadfast like the Pandavas.
He emphasized that the BJP's prompt action in finalizing and releasing its candidate list underscores the NDA's strategy to demonstrate unity and preparedness ahead of the elections, while the Opposition is still engaged in discussions over the seat-sharing formula.
The BJP's candidate list for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections includes names for 71 constituencies, featuring several prominent leaders and current ministers.
Among the notable candidates are Bihar's two Deputy Chief Ministers -- Samrat Choudhary, who will contest from Tarapur in Munger district, and Vijay Kumar Sinha, fielded from Lakhisarai. Former Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi are set to contest from Katihar and Bettiah in West Champaran district, respectively.
During an interview with IANS after the announcement, Jaiswal took a swipe at the Opposition alliance, the Mahagathbandhan, while praising the NDA's solidarity.
“Many people were eager for the list to be released promptly, and here it is. The NDA completed its seat-sharing arrangements first. While the Mahagathbandhan was still contemplating, the NDA finalised its seat-sharing. This morning, opposition parties also attempted to spread some rumors,” Jaiswal remarked.
He added that the remaining candidates' list would be shared by Wednesday.
“As I stated, the NDA is akin to the five Pandavas -- a robust alliance. We are gearing up to form the government with a decisive majority under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. We have disclosed the names of 71 candidates, and the full list will be announced by tomorrow,” he concluded.
