Key Takeaways
New Delhi/Gandhinagar, March 9 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially designated Gujarat's Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi as its central observer for the forthcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana, as stated in a release issued on Monday.
This decision was confirmed by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, who noted that the appointments received the endorsement of the party’s National President, Nitin Nabin.
Sanghavi's role involves overseeing the coordination and organizational logistics regarding the Rajya Sabha election process in Haryana.
Central observers are generally responsible for facilitating communication between the party’s state leadership and central command, overseeing electoral preparations, and ensuring organizational integrity during the voting process by legislators.
In addition to Sanghavi's appointment, the BJP has also announced observers for various states where Rajya Sabha elections are imminent.
Vijay Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra have been appointed as observers for Bihar.
In Odisha, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, a minister from the Maharashtra government, has been entrusted with similar responsibilities.
The announcement indicated that observers are expected to manage party coordination and related tasks during the Rajya Sabha election process in their designated states.
Meanwhile, political activities concerning the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections are intensifying in Bihar.
Last week, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar submitted his nomination for a seat in the Upper House, while Nabin has also been announced by the party as its candidate from the state.
After the scrutiny of nomination papers, the validity of six candidates contesting for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar, including Nitish Kumar and Nitin Nabin, was confirmed.
The BJP is backing Nabin alongside party leader Shivesh Kumar as part of its candidate roster for the upcoming biennial elections.
The Election Commission has slated the Rajya Sabha biennial elections for March 16, with polling to occur across several states where the term of current members will end in April.
These elections will select new representatives for the Upper House from states such as Bihar, Haryana, Odisha, Assam, and others, with legislators in their respective state assemblies casting votes to elect the members.
