Indore, July 5 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya stated on Saturday that the unopposed election of Hemant Khandelwal as the new state BJP chief serves as a significant demonstration of the party's discipline.
The preparations for the election of the new state BJP chief were finalized, with numerous candidates expected to submit their nomination papers for the position.
Initially, it was believed that the new BJP chief would be determined through a voting process.
“However, during a visit from Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, it was revealed that the high command had chosen Hemant Khandelwal for the post. Consequently, no other leaders aspiring for the position proceeded to file their nominations,” he explained.
“This was an exemplary organizational election. A state BJP chief was selected without any dissent or protests from party members. It is a true reflection of discipline within the BJP. Such seamless elections are unique to the BJP,” Vijayvargiya remarked.
In contrast, he criticized the Congress party, suggesting that they are plagued by factionalism and are unable to elect their state president without controversy.
“When Khandelwal was unanimously appointed as the state BJP chief, a former state Congress president, now in the BJP, expressed astonishment at the BJP's discipline. He remarked that he couldn't envision such unity in the Congress,” Vijayvargiya added, indirectly referencing former Union minister Suresh Pachouri, who joined the BJP ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
Vijayvargiya further noted that the new state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal has consistently demonstrated his dedication as a committed BJP worker, and his integrity and dedication will undoubtedly inspire party members.
These remarks were made following a review of the preparations for Khandelwal's program, set to take place in the Rau assembly constituency in Indore on Sunday.
Khandelwal, aged 60, a former Lok Sabha member and current MLA from Betul, succeeds former MP BJP chief V. D. Sharma.
Previously, Khandelwal has held several organizational roles within the BJP, such as Treasurer of the state unit from 2014 to 2018 and district president of Betul from 2010 to 2013.
