Bhopal, July 3 (NationPress) Just a day after being elected unopposed as the Madhya Pradesh BJP president during a significant event attended by key party leaders, Hemant Khandelwal is set to embark on a tour of three districts today.
On this inaugural day of his official duties as the state BJP chief, Khandelwal will visit Ujjain, Dewas, and Sehore, participating in various activities as per the party's media department.
Before commencing his day-long visit, Khandelwal is slated to address a 'mock Parliament' event in Bhopal, which is part of the BJP's campaign commemorating 50 years since the Emergency. This marks his first public engagement since assuming the role of state BJP chief on Wednesday.
Following the 'mock Parliament' event at a mall in Bhopal, Khandelwal will head to Ujjain to offer prayers at the Mahakal temple seeking blessings. He plans to attend multiple events at the party's local office.
From Ujjain, Khandelwal will proceed to Dewas district and subsequently to Sehore district, where he is scheduled to engage in programs organized by the BJP's district units.
During a gathering filled with party workers and senior leaders at the BJP’s state headquarters in Bhopal, Khandelwal shared anecdotes about his family's political legacy, highlighting how his grandfather triumphed over Congress in 1930 to establish the “Gareeb Dal” and became the president of the Nagar Palika. His granduncle, G.D. Khandelwal, served as a minister, while his father, Vijay Kumar Khandelwal, was a four-time MP and held the position of BJP treasurer for more than a decade.
“I do not claim any special qualification,” he stated humbly. “I am just a regular karyakarta. This is the Bharatiya Janata Party -- a party that assigns roles based on merit and commitment,” he mentioned.
He emphasized the party’s internal unity, asserting, “Discipline prevails in our party. Such significant elections occur, and all notable members submit identical nominations. I challenge Congress -- if you can manage even your ward elections with this level of solidarity, we will acknowledge you.”
