Key Takeaways
Somnath, April 20 (NationPress) The President of the Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jagdish Vishwakarma, criticized the Congress MLA from Veraval, elected by a slim margin, for being inactive. He emphasized that the development of the town is attributed to the BJP's organizational strength.
Speaking at a ‘Vikas Sankalp Sabha’ in Vavdi-Adri village within Veraval taluka of Gir Somnath district, he remarked: “The Congress MLA, Vimal Chudasama, who was elected with a minimal lead, has not taken any significant action. It is the proactive efforts of the BJP and our MP that have spurred Veraval's progress.”
Vishwakarma also compared the governance styles of the BJP and Congress while commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
“In the Congress era, politics revolved around regionalism, linguism, and casteism. Prime Minister Modi has discarded this model, putting development at the forefront,” he stated.
He noted improvements in essential services, mentioning advancements in water and electricity supply.
“In the past, residents faced challenges in accessing water, with trains bringing supplies from Gandhinagar. Nowadays, water flows freely from the taps,” he added, highlighting that the state now offers 24-hour electricity.
Vishwakarma expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for implementing various schemes that have ensured water availability in Saurashtra and Kutch.
On the topic of infrastructure, he pointed out that the upcoming coastal highway would significantly enhance connectivity and promote regional development.
“The development of the coastal highway is set to revolutionize connectivity and propel growth in this area,” he affirmed, declaring that Gir Somnath is a top priority for the BJP.
He also highlighted initiatives for farmers, mentioning the Kisan Samman Nidhi, a substantial Rs 10,000 crore relief package after recent unseasonal rainfall, and Rs 15,000 crore for procurement at support prices.
Vishwakarma advocated for natural farming as a sustainable future path, which is being endorsed with the backing of Amul Dairy.
Furthermore, he referred to cultural and religious infrastructure projects, asserting that under PM Modi’s leadership, the Somnath festival has seen grand celebrations, the Somnath corridor has been established, the Ambaji pilgrimage center has been upgraded, and a flag has been raised at Pavagadh after 450 years.
He added that significant projects such as the Ram temple, Kashi corridor, and Mahakal corridor have been successfully completed.
During the gathering, local Congress leaders Lalitbhai Lakhmabhai and Parbatbhai Merubhai Solanki, alongside hundreds of supporters, switched allegiance to the BJP.
