Bengaluru, Jan 13 (NationPress) A delegation from the Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) approached the Director General of Police, M.A. Saleem, on Tuesday to lodge a formal complaint against M. Laxman, a senior Congress leader and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Spokesperson, who is closely associated with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The complaint alleges that Laxman made incendiary statements regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister of State V. Somanna, which purportedly incited public unrest.

The BJP delegation, headed by MLA T.S. Srivatsa, called for swift action against Laxman for allegedly making false statements that could lead to public disorder, spread misinformation, and provoke unrest and animosity among citizens.

MLA Srivatsa stated, "During a press conference at the Congress Bhavan in Mysuru, M. Laxman made several grave accusations, claiming that violence erupted in Ballari due to the provocation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which led to the death of a Congress worker."

Laxman also suggested that if Union Minister Somanna, whom he accused of delivering Amit Shah's message, underwent brain mapping, the alleged conspiracy would be uncovered. He further asserted that violence escalated following Somanna's visit to Ballari where he held discussions with BJP MLA Janardhana Reddy and former Karnataka Minister Sriramulu.

Laxman alleged that Somanna made statements implying, "Holding press conferences and speaking in vain serves no purpose; politics should revolve around casualties." He claimed this sentiment echoed Amit Shah's message passed through Somanna to Reddy and Sriramulu.

In his remarks, Laxman explicitly named both Union Ministers and used extremely serious and provocative phrases such as, "a body must fall and politics must ensue over it," without any substantial documentation, evidence, or logical foundation. This raises significant concerns, according to BJP MLA Srivatsa.

He stated, "Such misleading statements instill fear, anxiety, and unrest among the populace, aiming to foster hatred and mistrust towards the state government. They can disrupt peace and harmony between the central and state governments as well as among citizens, amounting to incitement through the dissemination of false allegations against esteemed Union Ministers."

Srivatsa emphasized, "The intent behind these unfounded allegations is to create discord between the central and state governments for trivial political gains, disturbing public peace and harmony. It's reprehensible for an official spokesperson of the ruling party to incite the public with false claims against Union Ministers."

He pointed out that Laxman has a history of making baseless allegations, employing abusive language, and disseminating misinformation across various media platforms. He suggested that Laxman's belief in immunity due to his party's power in the state and his unchecked speech is a punishable offense. Numerous defamation cases against him are currently in court trials. Despite this, he has shown no restraint in his statements.

According to MLA Srivatsa, Laxman’s actions constitute a serious criminal offense subject to punishment under Sections 125, 351, and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

Thus, he called for appropriate legal measures to be pursued against KPCC Spokesperson Laxman for his false and inflammatory remarks. Srivatsa asserted, "We believe in equal justice for all in the state and urge the relevant authorities to initiate legal action against him."
