Kolkata, June 9 (NationPress) The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed its discontent on Monday regarding the absence of three significant names from the obituary mentions during the inaugural day of the Monsoon session in the state Assembly.
Following protocol, the House was adjourned earlier today after the obituary mentions, with the comprehensive session set to resume on Tuesday and continue for the next fortnight.
BJP representatives pointed out that while the Obituary Mention acknowledged the 26 tourists who lost their lives to terrorists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April this year, three crucial names were notably absent.
The omitted names include Havaldar Jhantu Ali Sheikh, a martyr paratrooper who was slain in an ambush by terrorists in the Basantgarh region of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, in April, along with Hargobindo Das and Chandan Das, a father and son who were victims of communal violence in the minority-dominated district of Murshidabad in the same month.
BJP legislator and fashion designer-turned-politician Agnimitra Paul accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of adopting an anti-national stance in her opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"This is evident from the omission of the names of Jhantu Ali Sheikh, Hargobindo Das, and Chandan Das from the Obituary Mention list.
