Bengaluru, Oct 25 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has taken aim at Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar, questioning his apparent inaction regarding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's son, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, who has been promoting Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi as a potential successor to his father.
The BJP posed the question, “Doesn’t he have the courage to issue a notice to CM Siddaramaiah’s son?”
On Saturday, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka remarked, “Shivakumar shows no hesitation in threatening film actors that he will ‘tighten their nuts and bolts.’ He has the audacity to intimidate MLAs into submission. He even raises his voice at party workers at his discretion. But as the KPCC President, why can’t he muster the courage to address Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, Yathindra?”
Ashoka further criticized, “If you keep looking to the Delhi High Command for everything, how can you lead the state if you ever become Chief Minister, Mr. D.K. Shivakumar?”
He drew parallels to the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, stating, “Even if you happen to become Chief Minister, it’s clear that Siddaramaiah will remain the ‘super CM.’”
Furthermore, Ashoka questioned, “What advantages will Kannadigas gain from having a weak leader like you as Chief Minister?”
In significant news, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, commented on his father's political journey, stating that his father is nearing the end of his political career. He emphasized that, at this critical time, Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi will take the lead in guiding those who follow progressive and scientific ideas.
These remarks have ignited considerable controversy amid speculations of a leadership shift and discussions about power-sharing in Karnataka.
Yathindra declared, “Today, my father is at the end of his political career. He is in the final stage of his political life. At this hour, for those who embrace scientific and progressive ideas, Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi will take responsibility and provide leadership.”
Although Deputy CM Shivakumar stated that no individual is greater than the party and that party members should remain loyal, no action has been taken so far. Nonetheless, the party has previously issued notices to MLAs for publicly discussing leadership issues.
When asked about the situation, Shivakumar refrained from making comments, stating he would communicate the message to the relevant parties. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said, “I won’t discuss this matter now. I will ensure the message reaches where it needs to.”
“I prioritize discipline. Discipline is of utmost importance to my party,” he asserted. These comments are poised to spark a significant controversy within the ruling Congress, as a response from the Siddaramaiah faction is anticipated.
Meanwhile, sources have indicated that a report regarding Yathindra’s statement, along with a video of his announcement, has already been forwarded to the party's high command by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). The Shivakumar camp is optimistic that the national leadership will take note of the implications of Yathindra’s remarks.
