New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Following allegations from Congress MP Rahul Gandhi that the central government has been discouraging foreign delegations from engaging with the Leader of the Opposition (LoP), ruling party representatives firmly denied the claims, emphasizing that the government adheres to established protocol in all its dealings.
The surprising accusation made by Rahul Gandhi to reporters outside Parliament arrives just hours before Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to begin a two-day visit to India. His statements are likely to create a stir in political circles and pave the way for intense debates between the BJP and Congress.
Rahul Gandhi stated, “Engagements with the LoP typically occur with visiting delegations. This has been a longstanding tradition, historically observed during the tenures of Manmohan Singh and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.”
BJP MP Kangana Ranaut commented, “These decisions are made by the government. Atal ji was a national treasure, and the nation held him in high regard. I question why Rahul Gandhi is being restricted, as his loyalty to the nation appears dubious. His actions in fostering unrest and division raise concerns about his motives. If Rahul Gandhi wishes to align himself with Atal ji, he should consider joining the BJP — that might help him emulate him.”
BJP MP Bhim Singh remarked, “Why would the government hinder him? He only incites chaos and fails to speak appropriately.”
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP MP Brij Lal remarked, “The government adheres to protocol, and operations will proceed accordingly. Rahul Gandhi is merely politicizing the issue.”
JD(U) leader K. C. Tyagi clarified, “The government does not dictate such protocols. It is the visiting heads of state who choose whom they wish to meet.”
Union Minister Ramdas Athawale added, “Foreign dignitaries visit at the invitation of the ruling party or government. If President Putin wishes, Rahul Gandhi, as LoP, can meet him. The government plays no role in that.”
