Bagalkot (Karnataka), Feb 20 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has voiced its anger over the stone-pelting incident that occurred during the Shivaji Jayanti procession in Bagalkot city, asserting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should not provoke the patience of the Hindu community.

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra took to social media platform X to express his views on Friday, stating, "The Chief Minister should not challenge the patience of the Hindu community. There must be no silence when it concerns our revered figures and the pride of our land."

Vijayendra further emphasized, "The hooliganism involving stone-pelting and the throwing of slippers at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj procession in Bagalkot is utterly unacceptable and reprehensible. Under this appeasement-driven and poorly governed regime in Karnataka, law and order has deteriorated, allowing anti-social elements to disrupt peace seemingly with the government’s backing. If such incidents can occur in full view of the police, where does that leave the safety of ordinary citizens in the state?"

He continued, "Under the current Congress administration, these repeated assaults on Hindu festivals and processions seem to be part of a systematic conspiracy. Such hooliganism can only occur when perpetrators believe the state will protect them. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah must abandon his appeasement politics now and swiftly detain those who have disrespected the honor of Shivaji Maharaj, a symbol of our national pride, and enforce strict measures against them."

BJP Rajya Sabha member Narayansa Bandage, criticizing the state government, remarked in Bagalkot, "An anti-Hindu administration is governing the state. We cannot anticipate justice from them. Hindu activists are planning to host a grand Shivaji Jayanti celebration once more in Bagalkot city, and we will abide by the decisions made regarding this. The government must cease its appeasement of Muslims."

In response to the arrests made concerning the incident, he stated, "The police may try to manage this by arresting individuals, filing FIRs, and then releasing them. This should not be the case. The moulvis and maulanas who allegedly incited the crowd must be held accountable. If arrests are made indiscriminately, what is the purpose?"

On Friday, Karnataka police arrested eight individuals related to the stone-pelting incident during the Shivaji Jayanti procession in Bagalkot city.

In light of the incident, prohibitory orders have been enforced in Bagalkot city as of Friday, following the unrest caused by the stone-pelting incident during the Shivaji Jayanti procession.

The incident took place in the Killa Oni area as the procession passed in front of a mosque.

Consequently, police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the Old Bagalkot, Navanagar, and Vidyagiri localities. These restrictions will remain in effect until midnight on December 24.
