Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) As the BJP initiates the selection process for its new national president, senior party members have submitted their nomination papers for the 45-year-old working president, Nitin Nabin. The party announced on Monday that this move clearly conveys that “the country is young, and so is the BJP’s president.”
BJP MP Anurag Thakur stated in an interview with IANS, “The BJP stands as the world's largest political party, and it is poised to introduce one of the youngest national presidents in the country.”
Thakur emphasized the organizational strength of the BJP, noting that the party provides opportunities for leaders from both rural and urban settings at a young age.
He remarked, “Nitin Nabin has been elected as an MLA five times, has served as a minister, and has been involved with the BJP Yuva Morcha. His experience in governance and organizational matters is commendable. He embodies the youth and resonates with Gen Z.”
Thakur further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP have consistently highlighted the importance of youth leadership.
Through this decision, he said, “Prime Minister Modi and the party are delivering a powerful message that the country is youthful, and so is the BJP’s president.”
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also expressed support for the nomination, stating, “Today marks 45 years of the BJP, and our proposed leader is also 45 years old. This process, which allows a grassroots worker to rise to the position of national president, is unique to the BJP. Such a system is absent in other parties, which are often dominated by dynasty politics, like the Congress.”
Nitin Nabin is recognized as a significant and influential leader within the BJP in Bihar, having deep political roots in the state. A Patna native, he is the son of the late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a prominent BJP figure and former MLA. Following his father’s untimely passing, Nitin Nabin actively entered politics and gradually established his own political identity through persistent grassroots involvement.
He has successfully represented the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna and is widely acknowledged as one of the BJP’s most reliable leaders in Bihar. Nabin boasts an impressive electoral track record, having won four consecutive Assembly elections in 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. His political journey commenced with a bye-election victory in 2006, marking his formal entry into the state legislature.
In the latest Bihar Assembly elections, Nitin Nabin secured a win from Bankipur, defeating his closest competitor by over 51,000 votes. His repeated electoral victories have significantly bolstered his reputation within the party.
