Bengaluru, July 23 (NationPress) A state of alarm swept through Bengaluru's Kalasipalya bus station after an unattended bag was discovered near a public toilet on Wednesday.

Upon receiving reports of a suspicious bag, the Bengaluru Police swiftly responded and unearthed gelatin sticks and detonators located outside the public restroom at the bustling Kalasipalya bus terminal.

DCP (West) S. Girish confirmed the situation by stating: "Six gelatin sticks and some detonators, all separately packaged, were located in a carry bag just outside the restroom situated on the premises of the Kalasipalya Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus stand."

The explosive materials were found around 2 p.m., stored in distinct bags beside the toilet.

A legal case has been initiated under Sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, Sections 6 (A), 9 (B) of the Explosives Act, as well as Sections 61 (1)(a), 61 (1)(b) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

Assistant Traffic Superintendent Mallappa R Katiimani has lodged a formal complaint regarding this matter. An unidentified adult male has been named as the suspect in the FIR.

The FIR asserts, "The complainant, functioning as the ATS at the Kalasipalya bus station, reported for duty at 8 a.m. and conducted an inspection of the Kalasipalya BMTC bus stop, finding no irregularities at that time. Later, at 1:15 p.m., security personnel Prabhvathi and Raju presented a bag indicating it had been abandoned by an unidentified individual near the bus terminal's public restroom. They suspected it contained explosive materials and alerted the police, who subsequently confirmed the presence of explosives."

The complainant emphasized that Kalasipalya bus stop is a highly congested area, urging law enforcement to identify the individuals responsible for leaving the explosives, thereby jeopardizing lives and property, as stated in the FIR.

The local Kalasipalya Police have initiated an investigation into this alarming incident.

DCP Girish personally visited the scene and is overseeing the inquiry.

Further details are pending as the investigation remains in its initial phases.

Kalasipalya, a region characterized by communal sensitivity and high population density in Bengaluru, has seen heightened concerns among residents and security forces following this discovery.

Just last week, over 40 private educational institutions in Bengaluru received bomb threat emails, causing panic among parents and confusion near the schools.

Schools in various locations, including Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri, were threatened through an anonymous message.
