Johannesburg, Sep 16 (NationPress) Dewald Brevis, recognized as the most costly player in SA20 history, expressed his enthusiasm for joining Pretoria Capitals for Season 4, characterizing it as a pivotal moment in his life following three memorable years with MI Cape Town.
At just 22, Brevis returns to his hometown of Pretoria after a successful stint with MI Cape Town, where he played a crucial role in securing the team's first championship title last season, amassing 291 runs with an impressive average of 48.5 and a strike rate of 184.18.
“I’m incredibly excited. Looking back, those three years with MI Cape Town were remarkable. We faced challenges, but our achievements last year were unforgettable. However, this marks a new chapter for me,” Brevis shared with SA20.
“Joining Pretoria is thrilling. It’s my home. I'm quite familiar with SuperSport Park—it holds a special place in my heart. It’s where my brother and I grew up, watching cricket and playing near the field. I can’t wait to bond with the team, create memorable moments, and enjoy the experience,” he added.
Brevis is eager to connect with his new teammates and is optimistic about the Capitals’ chances after they narrowly missed the playoffs in the last two seasons.
“It’s fantastic to have Lungi Ngidi on board; we’ve shared many moments since our time in Bangladesh. I’m also thrilled for Connor Esterhuizen, who’s a phenomenal player,” he noted.
“When you consider our overseas players, we’ve assembled a well-rounded team with a robust batting order, power-hitters, and players who will thrive at SuperSport Park. With talents like Rutherford and Andre Russell, I’m eager to see how the team performs and enjoys playing in such a beautiful venue,” he concluded.
