New Delhi, May 27 (NationPress) South Africa’s Dewald Brevis expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chennai Super Kings franchise and their fans following a brief yet remarkable tenure in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Brevis joined CSK as an injury substitute midway through the season and made a significant impact, amassing 225 runs in six matches at a striking rate of 180 and an average of 37.50. His contributions stood out in what was otherwise a challenging season for the five-time champions, who found themselves at the bottom of the points table for the first time in history.
On social media, just two days after CSK concluded their campaign with a victory against the Gujarat Titans, the 22-year-old Brevis shared an emotional message. He thanked the team management, support staff, and his fellow players for their warm welcome and the chance to showcase his skills.
“A big thank you to the Chennai management, coaches, and everyone involved for trusting in me and allowing me to pursue my passion – PLAYING CRICKET,” Brevis stated on Instagram.
“I am especially grateful to my teammates for making me feel at home right from the start. And to all our amazing fans in India, your support was phenomenal. The atmosphere at Chepauk was truly unforgettable. I look forward to returning soon.”
He also posted a picture with MS Dhoni, who returned to captain the team in the latter part of the season after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined due to injury.
Previously, Brevis had played for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022, and after remaining unsold in the 2025 auction, his stellar performance in SA20 this year, where he scored 291 runs for MI Cape Town, led to his call-up by CSK to replace the injured Gurjapneet Singh.
With the mini-auction approaching later this year, CSK has the option to retain Brevis. The franchise will also evaluate the futures of Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel, two other replacements who made a notable impact in the latter half of the season.
