Khajuraho, Dec 9 (NationPress) At the Maharaja Chhatrasal Convention Center in Khajuraho, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav led a cabinet meeting on Tuesday where a series of groundbreaking decisions were made to accelerate development in Bundelkhand and other areas of Madhya Pradesh.

The focus of the meeting included enhancing industrial growth, generating employment, expanding irrigation, improving road infrastructure, upgrading healthcare, and promoting wildlife conservation.

A significant highlight was the endorsement of a special industrial incentive plan for the Maswasi Grant industrial zone in Sagar.

To draw in investors, land interest and annual rent have been set at just one rupee per square metre, with development fees payable over 20 annual instalments. Maintenance costs are fixed at Rs 8 per square metre.

The package also includes a full reimbursement of stamp and registration fees, along with a five-year exemption from electricity charges for new units.

Large-scale industries will gain advantages from the Industrial Promotion Policy 2025, while MSMEs will be supported through the MSME Development Policy 2025. However, cement units are excluded from this package, which will remain active for five years.

The cabinet also authorized administrative approval for building a 76.68-km four-lane Sagar-Damoh road with a budget of Rs 2,059.85 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model. Forty percent of the expenses will be covered by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation, while the remaining 60 percent will be sourced from the state budget in annuities over a period of more than 15 years.

An additional Rs 323.41 crore has been allocated for land acquisition and related activities. The project will incorporate 13 underpasses, three major bridges, nine medium bridges, one rail overbridge, and multiple junctions.

Healthcare saw a substantial uplift with the approval of 990 regular and 615 outsourced positions for new medical colleges in Damoh, Chhatarpur, and Budhni. Additionally, 12 health institutions across 11 districts will be enhanced, including the expansion of community health centers and civil hospitals, with 348 new posts approved for Rs 27.17 crore, as decided by the cabinet.

On the environmental front, the cabinet has in principle approved the development of the Veerangna Durgawati Tiger Reserve in Nauradehi as the state’s third habitat for cheetahs, complementing Kuno National Park and Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

Moreover, the Jhapan Nala Medium Irrigation Project in Damoh district was sanctioned at Rs 165 crore, set to irrigate 3,600 hectares across 17 villages. Collectively, these decisions highlight a comprehensive vision for infrastructure, industry, healthcare, and conservation, showcasing the government’s commitment to balanced regional growth.

Point of View

The exclusion of cement units from the industrial package raises questions about the long-term sustainability of such policies. As editors, we will continue to monitor the effectiveness of these measures.
