Patna, March 19 (NationPress) The Jan Suraaj Party, under the leadership of President Prashant Kishor, revealed its candidates for the Patna University Student Union (PUSU) elections on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, Divesh Dinu will run for the position of President, with Mohammad Danish Wasim vying for Vice-President, Ritambana Roy as General Secretary, Anu Kumari for Joint Secretary, and Brijesh Kumar as Treasurer.
During this announcement, Prashant Kishor criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"JDU has failed to find candidates for the student union elections," Kishor remarked, condemning the ruling JDU-BJP coalition.
He pointed fingers at both Nitish Kumar and the BJP for the declining academic standards and the condition of Patna University.
"Fifteen to twenty years ago, Patna University was a hub for direct IAS and IPS recruits, but now, its academic integrity has deteriorated," he stated.
Kishor also took aim at PM Narendra Modi for not granting Central University status to Patna University, asserting that Nitish Kumar never prioritized educational reforms and was more focused on political maneuvers for cabinet positions.
"PM Narendra Modi dismissed the request to elevate Patna University to a Central University, asserting a desire to transform it into an international university. However, neither of these goals has been achieved, and the situation has worsened," he added.
"The reputation of Patna University has been tarnished under the guise of infrastructure projects, such as the Metro and double-decker initiatives. Imagine Delhi University being demolished for a Metro project? Yet here in Bihar, the entire Science Department of Patna University has been destroyed for a Metro project. This is only feasible in Bihar, and I hold Nitish Kumar and the BJP accountable," Kishor continued.
With the Jan Suraaj Party putting forward candidates for the PUSU elections, Prashant Kishor is actively broadening his reach in student politics.
The Patna University Student Union Election 2025 is scheduled for March 29, with nominations commencing from March 10.
The PUSU results are set to be announced on March 30.
