New Delhi, Aug 12 (NationPress) Today, as India stands among the elite global space-faring nations, it is essential to recognize Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the visionary space scientist who was instrumental in establishing the Indian Space Programme. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) commemorated his 106th birth anniversary on Tuesday.
Born in Ahmedabad in 1919, Dr. Sarabhai is often referred to as the father of the Indian space programme. While India has emerged as a key player in the global space arena, Dr. Sarabhai's efforts were crucial in launching the country's own space initiatives.
“ISRO pays heartfelt tribute to the birthday of the pioneering space scientist, Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai. His invaluable contributions laid the groundwork for the Indian Space Programme, and his vision continues to guide ISRO's mission,” ISRO stated in a social media post on the platform X.
