Amaravati, Sep 16 (NationPress) The central government has allocated 41,170 tonnes of urea to Andhra Pradesh through multiple ports, as announced by the state’s Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Tuesday.

The minister emphasized that the Centre has prioritized Andhra Pradesh in its urea distribution to various states.

Urea shipments from different manufacturers are expected to arrive at various ports. Specifically, 11,605 tonnes from CIL (Coromandel International Ltd) will dock at Krishnapatnam Port, 18,765 tonnes from CIL at Kakinada Port, 2,700 tonnes from IPL (Indian Potash Ltd) will come through Mangalore Port, and 8,100 tonnes from NBCL (Narmada Ltd) will arrive at Jaigad Port. These shipments are anticipated to reach Andhra Pradesh before September 19.

During a press conference, the minister assured that this allocation would significantly aid farmers, ensuring there is no fertilizer shortage. He added that the state currently has ample urea stocks, alleviating farmers' concerns.

Atchannaidu expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his relentless efforts in securing increased urea allocations for the state.

He urged the farming community to avoid panic buying and expressed confidence that the allocations would suffice to meet their requirements. He also warned that anyone engaging in black marketing or diversion of fertilizers would face strict legal consequences.

The minister criticized the YSR Congress Party for allegedly spreading misleading information regarding urea supply, cautioning that attempts to instill fear among farmers for political advantage would not succeed.

Atchannaidu reaffirmed that addressing farmers’ issues is the coalition government's top priority and that it remains fully dedicated to farmers' welfare.

He remarked that YSRCP leaders have historically neglected farmers' concerns and are now attempting to mislead them with false narratives. He claimed that the YSRCP has lost farmers' trust, stating that the agricultural community will not fall victim to their theatrics.

The minister instructed Agriculture Director S. Dilli Rao to devise and implement a distribution plan for different districts based on scientific assessments of crop needs, in collaboration with local administrations.

District officials have been directed to facilitate urea distribution across multiple locations rather than concentrating it at a single point. This initiative aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by farmers enduring long wait times and to counter false narratives.

Collectors and Superintendents of Police have also been tasked with deploying additional personnel in areas where anti-social elements may attempt to cause disturbances.
