Kolkata, Oct 30 (NationPress) To enhance the accessibility of voting information during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Chief Electoral Officer's (CEO) office in West Bengal has established numerous communication channels to keep voters informed about their respective booth-level officers (BLOs).
The CEO’s office is committed to disseminating comprehensive information about the BLOs, including their mobile numbers, to ensure that voters can easily reach out to them should they encounter any issues.
“Information about the BLOs, along with their contact numbers, will be accessible on both the CEO’s office website and the websites of district magistrates, who serve as district electoral officers. Additionally, area-specific outreach initiatives will be conducted to educate voters about their local BLOs,” a source from the CEO’s office revealed.
This week, the SIR for 12 states in India, including West Bengal, was officially announced. The initial phase of the three-stage SIR is set to commence on November 4.
During the first phase, BLOs will visit homes to distribute enumeration forms and gather voters' information. By the end of this phase, the draft voters’ list for the state will be published.
The CEO’s office is also implementing multiple methods to facilitate the submission of completed enumeration forms. Voters can either hand their forms to the BLOs during their visits or submit them at their local electoral registration office.
“If a voter is unavailable during the first stage, they can fill out the enumeration form online via the CEO’s office website. For those who are temporarily away for work, a family member can sign and submit on their behalf, ensuring they include the applicant's name and their relationship. Notably, a voter’s name will only be added to the draft list upon submission of the duly completed enumeration forms,” the insider explained.
These initiatives are designed to significantly ease the voting process for all participants.
