New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) The preparations for Chaitra Navratri are in full throttle across the nation. Various temples are being adorned with vibrant flowers in anticipation of this nine-day festival, which honors the nine manifestations of Goddess Durga and signifies the onset of the Hindu lunar calendar year.
In 2026, this auspicious celebration will commence on March 19 and will culminate with Ram Navami. Each day of the festival is dedicated to a distinct form of the goddess, accompanied by specific colors and offerings.
The Kalkaji Temple in Delhi has been beautifully embellished with colorful flowers and traditional 'chunris' for the first Navratri of the year.
A significant number of devotees gathered at the temple on Wednesday, with many capturing memories through photographs.
In the Chichi Mata Temple located in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, decorations have also been put in place for the Chaitra Navratri festival, with devotees forming long queues to offer their prayers. Workers have adorned the temple premises with artificial flowers in preparation for the upcoming festivities.
Offering his warm regards to all devotees for the festival, Pandit Bansi Lal from Chichi Mata Temple shared with IANS, "Many devotees are often uncertain about the auspicious timings for their rituals. Important rituals such as 'Kalash Sthapana' can be conducted after 6:40 AM this year."
He further stated, "Here at Chichi Mata Temple, we have made excellent arrangements for the festival. I encourage all devotees to visit and receive the blessings of the goddess. The atmosphere is truly delightful here."
On discussing the festival's inaugural day, Pandit Shipra Sachdev informed IANS, "The 'Kalash Sthapana Muhurat' is set from 6:50 AM to 7:52 AM, while the 'Abhijit Muhurat' occurs between 12:05 PM and 12:50 PM. This time, only these two mahurats are available for 'Kalash Sthapana', which holds great significance for the festival."
In preparation for Chaitra Navratri and Eid, heightened security measures have been implemented in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh. ID checks for commuters are being conducted prior to granting access, with substantial security personnel on site.
