New Delhi, May 12 (NationPress) BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar delivered a sharp critique of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, following his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting a special session of Parliament. Chandrasekhar noted that the Congress party seems unable to tolerate India's advancement under the Prime Minister.
In his correspondence dated May 10, LoP Gandhi sought a special session to address the Pahalgam terror attack, ‘Operation Sindoor,’ and the subsequent ceasefire agreement with Pakistan.
Chandrasekhar questioned the intentions behind the LoP's request, highlighting Gandhi's frequent absence during standard sessions. He remarked, “I’m puzzled as to why he’s asking for a special session when he’s often absent during routine discussions. His and his sister’s absence during regular debates raises questions. What’s behind this sudden push for a special session?”
He further claimed that the Congress party cannot accept India's progress under PM Modi.
“Each time India thrives, the Congress seems discontent. Whether it’s economic growth, the empowerment of Indian women, or India earning respect globally, the Congress remains dissatisfied,” he stated.
Chandrasekhar accused the Congress of engaging in opportunistic politics, particularly concerning national security issues. “If the Congress wishes to discuss who was responsible in the fight against terrorism, the BJP is open to that conversation. Let’s revisit 26/11, and their comments following Pulwama and the Balakot airstrike.
He added, “We should also discuss the lack of modernization of our armed forces during the decade of UPA governance.”
Chandrasekhar criticized the broader political strategy of the Congress party.
“The Congress indulges in politics of appeasement and deceit. This behavior is not a surprise,” he asserted.
“The citizens of India recognize this politics, evident from their three consecutive electoral defeats,” he noted.
Addressing the Congress’s reaction to the April 22 terror incident, Chandrasekhar stated, “When terrorists attack, the Congress’s son-in-law defends them by pointing to Article 370. Their history is questionable, both in power and in opposition.”
He challenged the Congress to confront reality: “If they desire a genuine debate, we are prepared. However, if they intend to engage in politics, the BJP is ready to unveil the truth.”
