Chennai, Sep 13 (NationPress) The team behind director Athiyan Athirai's much-anticipated film 'Thandakaaranyam', starring actors Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan in lead roles, has unveiled the character names and appearances of actors Shabeer Kallarakkal and Balasaravanan.
Neelam Productions, led by director Pa Ranjith, shared this exciting news on their X timeline. They introduced Shabeer Kallarakkal's character with the statement, "Rage and rivalry! #Shabeer as Amitabh #ThandakaaranyamFromSept19 #தண்டகாரண்யம்."
For Balasaravanan's character, the production house noted, "Their bond will teach you resilience. #Balasaravanan as Rupesh. #ThandakaaranyamFromSept19 #தண்டகாரண்யம்."
Both actors portray police constables within the narrative.
Previously, the production team announced that Kalaiyarasan plays a character named Murugan, while actor Dinesh takes on the role of Sadaiyan.
The recently released teaser reveals that the film's story is told from a woman's viewpoint. A young woman residing in a tribal hamlet on the outskirts of a forest narrates her tale: "Every time a girl is born in this forest, a root vegetable is also born. My grandmother Richiamma used to tell me that the man who finds that root vegetable and brings it to you is your destined partner," she explains. "The forest is not merely trees and plants; it encompasses our love," she adds. "One day, my man made me stand under this tree and went in search of the root to offer to me. He still hasn't returned."
The visuals in the teaser indicate that the woman's story serves as an allegory for a deeper narrative of oppression set within forest lands.
It's clear from the teaser that Murugan is affiliated with one of the uniformed services, while Sadaiyan is depicted as a tribal leader.
Produced by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions in collaboration with Learn and Teach Productions, 'Thandakaaranyam' will also present actors Rithyvika, Vinsu Sam, Muthukumar, Aruldass, and Saranya Ravichandran in significant roles.
The film has received clearance from the Censor Board with a U/A certificate and is slated for release on September 19.
On the technical side, the film features music by Justin Prabhakaran and cinematography by Pratheep Kaliraja. Editing is managed by Selva, while Tha Ramalingam oversees art direction.
Sources indicate that shooting occurred entirely in forest and mountain villages, with additional scenes filmed in hilly regions.
