Chennai, Sep 3 (NationPress) The creators of director Athiyan Athirai's highly anticipated film 'Thandakaaranyam', starring actors Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan in lead roles, announced the character name for Kalaiyarasan on Wednesday.
Neelam Productions, the studio behind this project, shared the revelation on their X timeline, stating, "Heart-wrenching yet resilient. #Kalaiyarasan embodies Murugan in #Thandakaaranyam. ThandakaaranyamFromSept19."
Notably, just a day prior, the team revealed the name of Dinesh's character.
On his X timeline on Tuesday, director Athiyan Athirai disclosed that Dinesh portrays a character named Sadaiyan in the film.
A teaser recently unveiled suggests that the narrative unfolds from a female perspective. It follows a young woman residing in a tribal community on the edge of a forest as she recounts a tale. "Every time a girl is born in this forest, alongside her, a root vegetable emerges. My grandmother Richiamma always said that the man who discovers that root vegetable and brings it to you is your destined partner," she narrates. "The forest isn't merely trees and plants; it also encompasses our love," she explains. "One day, my partner made me stand beneath this tree and went searching for the root to offer me. He still hasn't returned."
The teaser hints that the story told by the woman serves as an allegory for a deeper narrative of oppression set in the forest.
From the teaser, it is apparent that Murugan is associated with one of the uniformed services, while Sadaiyan assumes the role of a tribal leader in the film.
This production, brought to life by director Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions in collaboration with Learn and Teach production, will also showcase actors Rithyvika, Vinsu Sam, Muthukumar, Aruldass, and Saranya Ravichandran in significant roles.
The film has already received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board and is set to be released on September 19.
Shabeer Kallarakkal, who garnered acclaim for his role as 'Dancing Rose' in the sports drama Sarpetta Parambarai, will play a crucial role in this film, joined by comedian Bala Saravanan in a notable part.
On the technical side, the film features music by Justin Prabhakaran and cinematography by Pratheep Kaliraja. Editing is handled by Selva, while Tha Ramalingam oversees art direction.
Sources close to the film's production indicate that filming took place entirely in forests and mountain villages, with additional sequences shot in hilly regions.
