Washington, September 10 (NationPress) In a tragic event, prominent conservative figure and activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while addressing an audience at a university in Utah.

Kirk, who was just 31 years old, was sharing his insights during a campus gathering at Utah Valley University on Wednesday (US time) when gunfire erupted, causing chaos among the participants.

He was immediately transported to a medical facility but unfortunately succumbed to his wounds shortly thereafter.

A disturbing clip circulating on social media depicts Kirk responding to a question from the audience regarding mass shootings just moments prior to the attack.

As reported by a university spokesperson in The New York Times, the assailant fired from a structure nearly 200 yards (180 meters) away. FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump expressed his sorrow over the loss of one of his most trusted allies, stating, "The great, and even legendary, Charlie Kirk, is no longer with us. No one understood or connected with the youth in the United States better than Charlie. He was cherished by many, especially me, and now, he is gone. Both Melania and I extend our condolences to his lovely wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, you will be missed!"

Moreover, Trump has ordered that all American flags nationwide be flown at half-mast in tribute to Kirk.

Kirk was renowned as the founder of Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the leading conservative student organization in the nation. He established the Arizona-based group in 2012, at just 18 years old, transforming it into a significant political force with over 800 chapters across universities in the US.
