Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has said that the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will need to produce a performance of extraordinary proportions against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday if they are to break into the top two of the IPL 2026 standings. If they bat first and score over 200, they would need to win by a margin of around 85 runs to surpass the Gujarat Titans on net run rate, which would also significantly impact RCB's NRR. And if they are chasing, any target between 160 and 200 would need to be completed in roughly 11 overs. So, while qualification scenarios remain open mathematically, the scale of what's required is highly improbable,' he said.

In batting-first terms, an 85-run victory margin over a 200-plus total would rank among the most dominant wins in recent IPL memory. In a chase scenario, overhauling any target between 160 and 200 in just 11 overs would demand a strike rate that even the most explosive T20 line-ups have rarely sustained across a full innings.
