New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra asserts that Ishan Kishan has a significant chance to rejuvenate his career during the forthcoming IPL 2025 after being acquired by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the mega auction.

Chopra expressed his astonishment at how Kishan has seemingly vanished from the national selectors' attention, despite his established competence with the bat.

"For whatever reason, he has completely disappeared from the radar. It seems like no one is discussing him or recognizing his significance. He even participated in the Ranji Trophy and amassed runs there; he is doing everything, but no one is even mentioning him," Chopra remarked on his YouTube channel.

Kishan, who was let go by Mumbai Indians (MI), was signed by SRH for a whopping Rs 11.25 crore in the IPL auction last November. However, with a robust opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, both of whom were among the most explosive openers last season, Kishan may be positioned at the No. 3 spot, a role he has filled occasionally, yet it is not his natural position.

Despite making history with a record-breaking ODI double century (210 off 131 balls) against Bangladesh in December 2022, Kishan was subsequently dropped from the playing XI, with Shubman Gill favored as the opener. Since then, he has faced challenges in securing a spot in the squad across all formats.

In the wicketkeeper-batter category, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sanju Samson have been prioritized over him in international competitions. Kishan also lost his BCCI central contract last year.

"You can come back into consideration once again. A keeper-batter who can open or bat in the top order is a valuable asset. Gautam (Gambhir) is indicating that they are all compartments in a train; everyone heads to the same destination, and it doesn’t matter if a compartment is at the front or rear. This suggests that the batting order holds little significance in Indian cricket anymore," Chopra elaborated.
