Bhubaneswar, April 14 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday conveyed his sincere greetings to Odias worldwide in celebration of Mahabishuba Sankranti and the traditional Odia New Year.
Encouraging the community to pursue a brighter future, Majhi called upon all Odias to commit themselves to enhancing the prestige of Odisha and to foster a progressive and thriving state.
“I wish to extend my warmest regards to all Odia brothers and sisters both in Odisha and globally on this occasion of the Odia New Year and Mahabishuba Sankranti. Let us vow on this culturally significant occasion to uplift the pride of Odisha and contribute to its advancement,” he expressed in a message.
The Chief Minister further encouraged everyone to celebrate the day with traditional enthusiasm and magnificence.

Mahabishuba Sankranti, often referred to as Pana Sankranti, is one of the most vital festivals celebrated in Odisha, symbolizing the onset of the Odia New Year. This day also marks the implementation of the traditional Odia almanac, introduced on Dola Purnima and effective from this auspicious day.
This occasion also aligns with the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, which is celebrated with immense devotion throughout the state. Special rituals took place at Srimandir in Puri and in different jagaghars (traditional martial arts schools) in the revered coastal city.
