Patna, Oct 30 (NationPress) Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched a scathing critique of Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, for what he termed an "insult" directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chhath Puja, and women devotees.
Speaking to the media in Kalyanpur following a rally supporting a BJP candidate, CM Dhami stated, "Rahul Gandhi's derogatory comments about Chhath Puja indicate a lack of understanding of India's profound Sanatan culture and a blatant disrespect for our traditional beliefs."
He added, "By labeling the fasting practices of our mothers and sisters as pretentious, he has disrespected the entire state of Bihar." The Uttarakhand CM pointed out that it appears that Gandhi's lineage, including his grandmother Indira Gandhi, mother Sonia Gandhi, and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, failed to instill essential values in him.
"Gandhi's remarks reveal his narrow mindset," CM Dhami noted, emphasizing that Gandhi has neglected the Indian custom of honoring elders and has used inappropriate language when referring to Prime Minister Modi.
In a message posted on X, CM Dhami remarked, "The devout people of Bihar, particularly our maternal figures who fast during Chhath Puja, will undoubtedly respond to such disrespect in the forthcoming elections."
Previously, Home Minister Amit Shah also condemned Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of insulting both PM Modi and Chhathi Maiya.
Shah asserted that the residents of Bihar will deliver a strong message to the Congress and the Grand Alliance in the upcoming Assembly elections.
While addressing a public gathering in Lakhisarai to support BJP candidate and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Home Minister Shah said, "Rahul Gandhi, your party members have insulted PM Modi's mother, and you have used offensive language against PM Modi, now you have also insulted Chhathi Maiya."
"This is Bihar, and the people here will respond decisively on November 6 and 11. When the votes are counted on November 14, your alliance will be completely defeated," Shah declared.
These comments followed Gandhi's fierce critique of PM Modi during an election rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, where he denounced Modi’s proposed symbolic 'Yamuna bath' during Chhath Puja, branding it a staged photo opportunity.
Gandhi remarked, "There was no Yamuna ji present—only a pond filled with clean water for Modi ji. Clean water was piped in for his photo opportunity, while the real India suffers in polluted water."
The Home Minister further attacked Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Congress, claiming they oversaw a period of lawlessness and corruption.
"Prior to 2005, Bihar was plagued by lawlessness. Industries and businesses ceased to function, leaving only one thriving enterprise—kidnapping and ransom. Under Lalu and Rabri's governance, heinous crimes were rampant," he asserted.
He credited Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for revitalizing Bihar after assuming office in 2005.
