Key Takeaways
Madurai, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK President M.K. Stalin on Saturday established an ambitious electoral goal of obtaining at least 2.5 crore votes and claiming over 200 Assembly seats during his speech at the DMK South Zone Polling Station Administrators’ Training Conference held in Madurai.
This conference, which saw participation from party officials across southern districts, took place at the Uthangudi Convention Grounds.
As Stalin departed from the Madurai Government Guest House in the evening, he was met with a warm reception from supporters along the way. Notably, a significant gathering of women greeted the Chief Minister between Mattuthavani and the conference venue, emphasizing the party’s outreach to female constituents.
In his address, Stalin remarked that Madurai occupies a prominent position in Tamil Nadu’s political and cultural spheres.
“Courage signifies Madurai. Love embodies Madurai,” he stated, praising the city for its rich traditions, hospitality, and cultural importance.
Stalin underscored the party’s organizational endeavors, noting that the DMK had worked diligently during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to safeguard eligible voters from being disenfranchised.
“We ensured that not a single legitimate vote was eliminated,” he emphasized.
Looking ahead to the upcoming Assembly elections, Stalin reiterated the party’s clear electoral ambitions.
“We must attain a minimum of 2.5 crore votes and secure over 200 seats,” he asserted, calling upon booth-level administrators and party workers to bolster grassroots engagement.
Additionally, the Chief Minister alleged that central investigative agencies, such as the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Income Tax Department, had been targeting DMK leaders with frequent actions.
He claimed these actions were attempts to apply pressure on the party but affirmed that the DMK would persist in its political and organizational efforts.
Stalin maintained that the continuity of the DMK government was vital for upholding welfare programs and social justice initiatives implemented by the state.
“For Tamil Nadu to advance further, the DMK must maintain its governance,” he urged, encouraging party members to collaborate effectively in the lead-up to the elections.
After the conference, Stalin was scheduled to participate in another event at the Gandhi Museum in Madurai.
