Chennai, Feb 1 (NationPress) Tamil Nadu's Health Minister Ma. Subramanian announced that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to unveil health infrastructure projects valued at Rs 360 crore in the state on February 6, further enhancing the public healthcare framework.
According to the Health Minister, the upcoming projects encompass district headquarters hospitals, primary health centres (PHCs), research facilities, and a microbiological research centre located at Guindy.
These new establishments are expected to substantially improve the accessibility and quality of government healthcare services.
Subramanian highlighted that Tamil Nadu has achieved a national milestone in preventive healthcare by administering the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to a 14-year-old girl.
“This indicates the state government’s dedication to women’s health and cancer prevention through early intervention,” he stated.
Expounding on the progress of the Nalam Kaakkum Stalin initiative, the minister noted that out of 1,256 planned medical camps statewide, 1,076 have already been executed.
“The remaining camps will be finalized by the end of February. To date, 14.16 lakh individuals have benefited from the scheme,” he remarked.
The Health Minister also mentioned that the state’s medical infrastructure has significantly improved since the DMK government assumed power.
“Currently, 17 districts have operational headquarters government hospitals. Moreover, Rs 1,078 crore has been earmarked for the establishment and enhancement of headquarters government hospitals in 19 additional districts,” he shared.
Regarding Tiruchirappalli, Subramanian announced the completion of a new building for the Tiruchy Government Hospital, constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 135 crore.
“This facility is set to be opened for public access within the next three weeks,” he added.
Additionally, he disclosed plans to create cancer screening centres in Tiruchirappalli, aligning them with existing centres in Chennai, Madurai, and Thanjavur.
“These centres will facilitate early detection and timely treatment, thereby reducing cancer-related fatalities,” the minister emphasized.
Reaffirming the government’s priorities, Subramanian stated that the state will persist in focusing on accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all demographics, with a particular emphasis on preventive care and bolstering public health infrastructure.
