Patna, Nov 18 (NationPress) Following a stunning defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Congress party, a pivotal player in the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance), has moved to address the actions of certain leaders deemed 'errant' for their anti-party activities prior to the elections.
The Bihar Congress has issued show-cause notices to 43 party officials for various 'offences,' including straying from party protocols and making anti-party remarks that have negatively impacted the party's electoral prospects.
This notice was dispatched by the Bihar Congress’ disciplinary committee, which has included former ministers, MLAs, and previous office-bearers among those named.
All individuals receiving notices must respond within three days; otherwise, they face serious repercussions, including potential expulsion from the party for up to six years.
These leaders are believed to have made public statements during the election campaign that were detrimental to the party, harming its reputation and influencing the election results.
As per the Congress disciplinary committee's statement, all 43 individuals are required to submit a written explanation to the panel by November 21.
“If their clarifications are not submitted within the stipulated time, we will have no choice but to proceed with actions, including expulsion from the party for a duration of six years,” stated Kapil Dev Prasad, chairman of the state disciplinary committee.
Among those receiving notices are former minister Afaq Alam, former spokesperson Anand Madhav, former MLA Chhatrapati Yadav, former minister Veena Shahi, former MLC Ajay Kumar Singh, former MLA Gajanand Shahi (also known as Munna Shahi), Sudhir Kumar (known as Bunty Chaudhary), Kanchana Kumari (Banka District Congress Committee President), Bachchu Kumar Biru (Saran District President), and former Youth Congress President Raj Kumar Rajan.
The committee emphasized that maintaining the party's discipline and unity is of utmost importance, and any actions that threaten these principles will be addressed with seriousness.
